How often should your business be posting on Facebook for the balance between active and annoying…
The key to marketing your business on Facebook is quality over quantity. Facebook is considered a low volume, high value network. Twitter for example, is a high volume, low value network).
The general consensus of those in the ‘know’, the likes of Buffer, Social Bakers and Constant Contact, is that most local businesses should post on Facebook once a day or 5 times a week.
Social Bakers, a global AI-powered social media marketing company, studied three months’ worth of Facebook content from major brands and found that the average posting frequency was once per day.

They found that ‘posting once per week on Facebook was so low as to lose connection with your audience and posting more than twice per day was crossing the line into annoying.’
Simple enough eh? However, the exact amount your business should post also depends on your follower count and the industry you’re in. Hubspot found that pages with less than 10,000 followers experienced a 50% drop in engagement per post if they posted more than once per day. If you have more than 10,000 followers then you’re more likely to see an increase in engagement if you post twice a day than those with sub 10K followers.
How often you post will also depend on the industry you’re in. For example, insurance providers, solicitors, accountants and other professional services should lean towards the lower end of the scale and post three times a week. If you run a restaurant, beauty salon, kids’ soft play centre or the like, you should post once a day. You’re more likely to have fresh content that your followers will be interested in reading on a more regular basis.
